How are you handling board approval for your AI strategy?

We are at the stage of drafting our first AI strategy and need board sign-off. Has anyone navigated the process of getting leadership to engage seriously with this topic? What worked and what did not?

City DMO · Western EuropeWhat moved our board was framing it as risk management, not technology. We led with the EU AI Act and GDPR exposure, then showed the strategy as the control. Approved in one sitting.

Which AI writing tools are you actually using day-to-day?

There are dozens of options but the marketing advice is often from vendors. Interested in what peers are genuinely finding useful for content drafting, translation, and social media — and what you have tried and dropped.

Regional DMO · Northern EuropeWe kept a general assistant for drafting and DeepL for translation, and dropped a dedicated social tool — the output needed too much editing to be on-brand. Human review on everything published.

Visitor data and AI tools — how are you managing GDPR obligations?

We want to use visitor survey data to train a recommendation engine but are uncertain about our legal basis under GDPR Article 6. Has anyone dealt with this and worked through a DPA with an AI vendor?

National Tourism Organisation · Southern EuropeWe anonymised the survey data before it ever touched the model, which took us out of the hardest part of the Article 6 question. The DPA with the vendor was non-negotiable and EEA hosting was a condition of procurement.

Is anyone measuring how often your destination appears in AI search results?

We are trying to establish a baseline for how ChatGPT, Perplexity and similar tools respond to questions about our destination. Has anyone developed a monitoring approach or found tools that help with this?

AI for MICE: what are convention bureaus actually doing?

Most AI and DMO discussion focuses on leisure marketing. Interested in what peers in convention bureaus and business events teams are using AI for — particularly for bid documents, delegate engagement, and event impact reporting.
